Arizona Occupational Therapy Continuing Education Requirements 

How many continuing education hours are required during a reporting period?

Occupational therapists licensed in Arizona must complete twenty (20) hours every two (2) years.

Occupational therapy assistants licensed in Arizona must complete twelve (12) hours every two (2) years.

Photocopy of a signed certificate or letter issued by the sponsoring organization or instructor displaying the clock-hours, date of attendance, name of the workshop, seminar, or conference, licensee’s name, and information necessary to contact the sponsoring organization or instructor for verification of attendance.

  • The name of the presenting licensee or a signed certificate or letter from the program organizer if other than the presenting licensee.

In-Service Training

In-service training related to clinical occupational therapy services excluding safety, fire evacuation, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

A letter from the supervising occupational therapist or other immediate supervisor; and

A licensee’s statement consisting of:

  • Specific topics,
  • Presenters,
  • Dates,
  • Times,
  • Location, and
  • How the training or in-service relates to the clinical practice of occupational therapy or contributes to professional competency

Course Approval Requirements

Continuing education shall contribute to professional competency and the practice of occupational therapy. The Board shall determine if continuing education hours contribute directly to the professional competency and if the continued education hours relate to the clinical practice of occupational therapy.
