Recorded on November 16, 2023

Description

Hamstring strains are among the most common injuries in sprinting sports, from recreational to elite athletes. Unfortunately, they are also among the most frequently recurring injuries in sports.  Much has changed in the past decade in hamstring injury assessment and rehab and this session is structured around translating the most recent evidence into clinical practice. This course will focus on assessing the injured athlete, determining an accurate prognosis, rehabilitating the athlete with an emphasis on preventing reinjury, and implementing a power development and return to sprinting program to optimize sport performance. Evidence based practice will be linked to published Clinical Practice Guidelines.

Objectives

    • Incidence of injury and reinjury: hamstring injuries happen - A LOT!
    • Basic physiology principles: how do we apply them to rehab in effort to reduce reinjuries?
    • Assessment of acute hamstring injury
    • Hamstring mapping for prognosis
    • Hamstring injury rehabilitation
    • Lengthened state strength training - is this the missing piece?
    • Return to sprinting
    • Return to sport decision making
